The Ocean In October

This weekend was beautiful- 75 degrees and sunny. We were stuck in Brooklyn, so we decided to head to Fire Island, to the beach!
We drove out an hour past the city to the ferry terminal and took the 30 minute boat across the Great South Bay. We arrived on Fire Island and it felt like summer again! We walked through town- though all the shops were closed for the season, it was lovely-til we reached the end. Then we started along the nature trails...

We hiked until we saw the ocean... it was so blue.
We kept on walking, around the whole trail until we got back to where we started.

We spent the rest of the time at the beach, until we had to catch the last ferry off the island. If we missed it, we'd have to sleep on on the island.... really beautiful day.
